Lightning Moving Up The Provincial Rankings
This first edition of the Terra Power Rankings (Ontario Ranking) was released recently. At the end of last seasion The Oshawa Turul Lightning were ranked 146th in the province. As of July 1st, we are now ranked 96th! That's a jump of 50 spots! Terra Ranking are determined by not only wins and losses in league play but also tournament performance and the competition you play in both. Playing tougher teams and doing well in the Whitby Tournament have attributed to our inproved standing.

For those of you keeping score, the Talons are currently ranked 129th - yes the "A" team is well below the "B" team! Now we need some league wins to keep on moving up!

Great work ladies!

What to Eat During Soccer Tournaments
From http://www.soccerxpert.com, a website I know both Jeff and I use quite often:

What to Eat During Soccer Tournaments

One of the hardest responsibilities as a soccer coach while on the road is monitoring your players’ food intake. As their soccer coach, it is important for you as their coach to give the players a list of foods that will help their bodies recover quickly and give them the most energy for the following games.

As a soccer coach, I don’t have to tell you that coaching a youth soccer team while traveling in tournaments is a difficult task. One of the hardest responsibilities as a soccer coach while on the road is monitoring your players’ food intake. As their soccer coach, it is important for you as their coach to give the players a list of foods that will help their bodies recover quickly and give them the most energy for the following games.

First of all, some of the tournaments I have coached in often play games with only a brief time between games. This is often not enough time to leave the complex to eat. In this situation, instruct your players to bring energy snacks that are easy and are an excellent energy source. These snacks are easy to carry and won’t spoil.
